You’ve got to hand it to Brian Vickers. Not only does he block the crap out of Dale Earnhardt Jr. last Sunday — too aggressively, I thought; and still think — and ignite The Big One, but he comes out of the Infield Care Center and calls out Junior.
Vickers’ willingness to suggest the emperor has no clothes is a bit like suggesting back in 2003 that Saddam Hussein didn’t have weapons of mass destruction, wasn’t linked to September 11th, and posed zero threat to anyone outside Iraq; that is, it may be true to anyone with two eyes, a pulse, and a brain, but, good heavens, it’s just not done!
But this Vickers, I’ll be damned if he isn’t the gift that keeps on giving. He’s already jabbed the bull at least twice and lived to tell about it. Apparently, he just likes playing with fire:
"I just assumed this was going to be my fault — it really didn’t matter what happened — from the fans’ perspective," Vickers said. "It’s the first time that I can remember that Junior’s been judged on his actions and not his popularity."
Now, if Vickers renders ap opinion on the whole waterboarding is/isn’t torture thing, we’ll know he’s just nuts …
