CITY OF ATLANTA: WE HAVE TWO CUP RACES?

Doug Demmons at The Birmingham News believes that Atlanta is the city most likely to lose a race if Kentucky gets a Sprint Cup date in 2010. ESPN's David Newton concurs. This news would surely disappoint the people of Atlanta, if they knew there were two Sprint Cup stops in their city.
If the move does, indeed, happen, the Sprint Cup would lose half of its presence in a major media market. On the plus side, the series would welcome sophisticated Kentucky sports fans -- like these gentlemen who attended the Kentucky Derby -- into the fold.

I think a NASCAR event should be staged in Los Angeles. Make it a street course over on the West Side. There used to be road racing in Santa Monica all the time. Sure, it was in the early 20th Century, but hey, who's to say it can't be done now?
