The analysis fails to account for the fact that there are multiple NFL games each week, so each Sunday is filled with games in addition to the Monday night game. Nor does it take into to account the sheer logistics of NASCAR teams nor the fact that for many (if not most) fans a race is a family affair and it's kind of difficult to disrupt your kids' lives during the week during school season.
However, what might very well work is to have most races on Saturdays and predominantly be night races. Saturday's are mostly free of NFL competition, so NASCAR wouldn't be competing with the NFL on Sunday's during the latter part of the season. And night races present so much better on TV.
They should also shorten the season to 30 races and eliminate the Chase. It was worth a try but it's just not working.
