Here is the deal folks... I'm not sure if you've noticed lately- by the way I agree whole heartedly with the sentiments of this article- but NASCAR has taken the sport that I love the most and removed the opportunity for hundreds of amazing drivers from reaching their dreams of competing in the top tiers of their sport. Stock car racing unlike the NFL or NBA (which generally narrows their playing professionals through college sports) only has so many positions available in their top tiers. Racing unlike other sports requires money to compete in, whether it is sponsorship or independent wealth. My point is... solve this however you want, I like the idea in the article. If not... grass roots short track racing and series like the WOO Dirt tour are going to dominate racing as a spectator sport. If it came down to it and I had to choose between watching a cup race on TV or a Dirt Late Model race at one of the many local tracks that feature them, it's a safe bet where I'll be.
