Totally agree with the author. The finish at Fontana was unexpectedly good racing. The only criticism I would make is to Johnson and NASCAR; if Johnson could have squeezed Harvick into the wall and taken back the lead to win, he should have done it. However, the risk of losing it and finishing 35th, as opposed to 2nd, was not worth the risk to a driver wanting to win a championship. Modern day NASCAR is more about points than wins, and that's a problem that should be effectively addressed. Perhaps a solution would be to cut off points at 20th place, or 10th, or whatever. That way, taking a chance at the win and losing the bet would not be nearly as catastrophic as it is under the current point system.
