Stumbled across allleftturns several weeks ago and love the blogs! I find that the first thing I do on Friday mornings now is head straight to the computer to check for Dan's article. Admittedly it might be a better idea to find a toothbrush or a shower first, but it is what it is I guess. Anywho, I love Dan's take on each weeks race, his nascar insight and sense of humor are a refreshing start to this racefans weekend!
That being said, I thought I should point out that his "fake dollar total" is incorrect. Probably not worth mentioning since it clearly says fake dollars and is all just for fun, but as a former occasional gambler (obviously an unsuccessful one since it says "former"!) I thought I should point it out in case others are using real dollars on his picks now, or might be in the future based on the inflated numbers. Basically what looks to be happening is on the weeks he has a winner (Impressively 5 of them already this season!) he only lists the winnings and not the losses. For example week 1 (Daytona) he correctly picked the winner Matt Kenseth for 5 fake dollars at 22-1. He therefore listed week 1 as being up 110 fake dollars. While Kenseth did win 110, the other racers he picked that week (45 fake dollars worth) did not, so he was actually only up 65 for the week.
Keep in mind he's still up a nice chunk of fake dollars on the season, just not quite the amount listed. Doesn't make a lick of difference to me, I thoroughly enjoy the blog and will look forward to this weekend's version just as I have previously, just wanted to give a heads up to those who might be considering using "unfake dollars" on Dan's picks. Thank you, and drive home safely! (random catchphrase)
