You've just made the perfect case, when in a DRIVER'S CHAMPIONSHIP, that the DRIVER should be granted the points, not the car owner when it comps to the guarantee for the Top 35 in the starting field. When a guy with SIX starts can squeeze himself in the Top 35 that says something about how good he really is and he deserves to rewarded for it, especially over some other driver who "races" in every event and still can't break that most generous of Nascar's rules. Imagine what Vickers could do if he only raced in 15 or 20 events, he just might be leading the points race.
And wouldn't that make a joke of the Chase?
