I'm with you Brian. The one difference is that Jeff gordon didn't win EVERY year. It was annoying, but ok to a point when he would win a couple, and then lose one or two. That's how Earnhardt won his, never more than two in a row. You knew either of them had a great shot, but it wasn't a guarantee. With the chase format, it's guaranteed that the 48 will win every year, and that's a terrible show.
