I don't know if the TRUTH will ever come out.
I really do believe that NASCAR singled him, a minor player, out. Just to make an example out of him. Much as they did Carl Long and Robby Gordon, penalized HEAVILLY for MINOR rules infractions. Has a big name team been penalized? The Lowe's Chevy team showed up Daytona a few years back, with obvious illegal suspension / body mount setup, designed to cheat the rulebook and yet that team and driver lost NO points, just a crew chief who was sent back to the shop so he could work on other "projects." Money talks. They expected Mayfield to be quiet and take his lumps.
He is either trying to pull the biggest ruse in NASCAR history or NASCAR got caught, messing with someone's life / career.
