DJ TO LEGALLY CHANGE NAME TO TEXASMOTORSPEEDWAY.COM
UPDATE: This story is a hoax, according to ESPN. Happy March Fool's Day?
A Texas radio DJ has agreed to legally change his name to TexasMotorSpeedway.com for one year in exchange for $100,000. On Tuesday track president Eddie Gossage tempted Terry Dorsey of 96.3 KSCS with the offer. Gossage also elicited a promise that Dorsey receive a permanent TMS tattoo. On Wednesday Dorsey agreed. This will not be the last time something like this happens.
Said Gossage, ""This may seem a bit crazy, but if you think about it Texas Motor Speedway will have a walking, talking billboard that is a well-known personality in the country's fourth-largest media market. He also is a race fan that has been broadcasting out at Texas Motor Speedway during our big race weeks since day one. Still, our finance guy here nearly had a heart attack when I told him what I did this morning, but I told him to look at it as a one-year 'promotional investment.'"
Dorsey said the deciding factor was his wife, Mrs. TexasMotorSpeedway.com. “It was my wife who convinced me to do it,” Dorsey said. “She said for the money Eddie was offering, it was something we couldn't pass up.”
