JIMMIE JOHNSON CRASHES AT TEXAS

Posted 11/08/09 at 12:50 PM PST by | Email This |

Jimmie Johnson's incredible run of great racing and good luck came to a stunning halt at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday when David Reutimann sent Sam Hornish Jr. into the points leader on lap 3 at the Dickies 500. Johnson slammed the inside wall, necessitating an hour-plus trip to the garage. The three-time champion returned to the track on Lap 115 in a rebuilt car, which bore no sponsor decals on the front and rear. Johnson's fourth championship, which looked like a lock before the race, suddenly is no longer a sure thing. Video below.

Video from YouTuber hakman8 of crowd reacting to the crash. (Crowd liked it.)

And this one is for the commenter who did not think people cheered Johnson's crash.

I'm with you, lady-who-shakes-her-head-in-disbelief.

I love to watch the NASCAR races! Unfortunately, it has become the JIMMY JOHNSON show. All we heard during the entire race was about his wreck, his stats, his place in the race, his points, what all they had to do to fix his car, Jimmy this, Jimmy that, I wonder, did Jimmy possibly pass gas while he was sitting in that car for 1 hour and 8 minutes!! I believe that's probably the only thing I didn't hear them say! Give us a break, JJ is a good driver, he's popular, wins a lot of races and now stands to break yet another record in NASCAR. WE KNOW! But, there were 42 other guys out there racing?; did the announcers notice that? We didn't hear much about anybody else. Let's be fair, there are 43 guys out there racing, not 1 guy that should get the entire show dedicated to him, that to me, will make racing boring.

I am a little confused. I fail to see them cheering as he is crashing or while he is just sitting there. I see nothing wrong with cheering when the most boring man in racing, who was running away with the title, crashes. They saw he was alright and then started cheering. Get over yourself.

I also like to cheer when someone slams their car into a wall at 100+ MPH....

(yes, thick sarcasm)
