Joey Logano is in a feud? I know. It’s hard to believe. Until you learn who it’s with – Robby Gordon. Now it’s not so hard to believe, is it? Saturday’s Nationwide Series race at Watkins Glen was eventful, to say the least. In addition to the Marcos Ambrose-Kyle Busch dust-up, Gordon wrecked Logano, sending the 19-year-old’s car into the tire barrier and eventually into flames. Logano was not happy about this. Said the normally cheerful driver, "Apparently, we got in a little grudge match after I cut down his tire. It’s a pretty raw deal. You can’t fix stupid; it’s forever. You put that in your memory bank."

According to Gordon, here is what happened:

"During the final incident that ended Joey’s day, we were racing for the lucky dog position. We both had good cars and were just trying to improve our finishing position for the day. After the bus stop chicane, Joey wrecked the No. 34 of Tony Raines. This contact allowed me to get underneath him in Turn 9.

"He saw that I was going to pass him for the lucky dog position, so he tried to block me. This maneuver resulted in his right rear tire connecting with my left front. From there, I felt he would be okay because he was in the section where the outer loop was. Rather than going down the inner loop, he decided to cut across the grass, hitting the tire barrier."

That’s one way to look at it. The other to look at is: Logano got into Gordon and cut his tire and Gordon avenged the act by hitting Logano until he knocked him off the course and into the tire barrier (video below). It should be noted that Gordon was not penalized. This was the second on-track incident in as many weeks for Gordon. At the Pennsylvania 500, he was penalized five laps for aggressive driving after bumping into David Stremme during a caution period.

Gordon said he is glad that Logano is OK, which means that deep down beneath it all there is some small part of him that is still human.
