So, I stumbled upon this gem of a story this morning: former NFL running back Travis Henry, father of nine kids by nine different women, is broke. Now, after getting past my admiration for Henry's obvious powers of persuasion -- you gotta figure that by prospective mother number five, maybe people would be getting suspicious, right? -- I'm left to draw a few happy conclusions.

So, I stumbled upon this gem of a story this morning: former NFL running back Travis Henry (above), father of nine kids by nine different women, is broke. Now, after getting past my admiration for Henry's obvious powers of persuasion -- you gotta figure that by prospective mother number five, maybe people would be getting suspicious, right? -- I'm left to draw a few happy conclusions.

First of all, the story forces me to be personally thankful I came to understand the concept of restraint; but, professionally, it reminds me how relieved I am that NASCAR remains somewhat apart from the rest of professional sports. Certainly, there are no shortage of stories about a similar Wild West mentality that pervaded NASCAR years ago, but to my knowledge, there's really nothing quite so egregious as a NASCAR Travis Henry.

In the end, Henry's story has no real connection to NASCAR; but it sure as hell is a good reminder of what NASCAR isn't.
