Talk about dropping the hammer. NASCAR just took unprecedented action against Michael Waltrip Racing.
Clint Bowyer, Truex and Brian Vickers will also lose 50 points, though the deduction won’t impact Bowyer’s Chase standing. essentially Michael Waltrip Racing will also face a “substantial” fine according to ESPN’s Marty Smith. MWR general manager Ty Norris is on indefinite suspension.
This all stems from the Clint Bowyer spin in Richmond, along with Brian Vickers pitting on the last lap. A host of published reports suggest there’s some kind of smoking gun that proves something was out of line. There has to be for something this severe to take place.
