Regan Smith is the 2008 Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year.
Such success isn’t a guarantee of future success, or even a job.
Smith ran truck and in the Busch Series from 2002-2005. He got his first chance at the Sprint Cup with Ginn racing, which tried to mix older drivers like Mark Martin with younger drivers to build both immediately and for the long run.
That plan lasted a year, and Ginn Racing merged with DEI, where Smith ran through 2008. Once DEI contracted, Smith was looking for work. Furniture Row Racing came calling
Smith ran all 36 races in 2010. It was a first for Furniture Row Racing. So too was his first top-ten at the Daytona 500 in 2011. Smith hopes to use this success to springboard his team through the rest of this year.
