NASCAR SHOULD NAME DRIVERS
When NASCAR penalizes drivers, it should name who they are and state why they have been penalized. SI.com's Tom Bowles writes that such openness in other sports leagues ensures that governing bodies don't "cross the line between firm discipline and terrorizing its participants." Update: ESPN is reporting which drivers were recently fined.
Unnamed sources tell ESPN that Ryan Newman and Denny Hamlin were the drivers who were fined. Makes sense. Each has made critical comments about NASCAR this year. Unlike NASCAR, they spoke on the record.

I agree with the late race "debris" penalties, but these have been going on for a long time. As for other penalties and fines, I think NASCAR has been forthcoming with who get penaliized for what, including owner, driver, wrench guy and such. I am really liking this years' racing because they are trying to get back to what the fans want which is more aggression on and off the track, and who does that better than Carl and Brad, with even a Harvick and Bowyer thrown in there for good messure. I AM LOVING IT THIS YEAR!
