"NASCAR.com" wonders if the pressure isn't getting to Dale Earnhardt. Jr.
 

There are those who will tell you that NASCAR.com is nothing but a house organ for the sport and its governing body. True or not, the site does seem to play most of its journalism fairly straight, neither avoiding nor ignoring tough stories or controversial issues.

And when it comes right down to it, you don't get a whole lot more controversial or run any greater risk of pissing off a whole bunch of people inside the corridors of power (or in Junior nation, for that matter) than by wondering if the pressure to perform isn't getting to Earnhardt Jr. I'd love to see the in-box of the poor site administrator down in Atlanta who gets to plow through all the emails sure to pour in on the heels of this sucker.

So, kudos to NASCAR.com for slaying the fatted calf, as it were. Of course, it's probably just a coincidence that said story was written with no single writer's name attached to it, but rather credited to "NASCAR.com."
