GEN 6: SO FAR A NEW CAR, BUT THE SAME ISSUE
Posted 03/05/13 at 5:00 AM PST
“I hate to be Denny downer, but I just didn't pass that many cars today. That's the realistic fact of it.” It’s an interesting observation from Denny Hamlin, the driver who had to race his hiney off to finish third at the Subway Fresh Fit 500 in Phoenix. Reigning Sprint Cup champ Brad Keselowski agrees, ““It’s harder than ever to pass. You have to be really good. The cars are so aero sensitive.”
Getting the entirety of NASCAR Nation to agree on much is like trying to herd cats, but it goes without saying that the consensus after two races is that the new car looks a ton better than its predecessor, but the racing all too well still tends to resemble what was seen in the race car formerly known as the Car of Tomorrow.

Ladies and Gentleman of Daytona Beach, the carnival has officially left town. The Daytona 500, the Budweiser Duel, the Sprint Unlimited, the Battle of the Beach, Danicamania, and the Junior Nation have packed up and headed west.
We’ve all seen the promotional trailer, the hardcore fan and the lookie loo alike. Now it’s time for a real honest-to-goodness look at what the NASCAR season holds in store.

So much for that strategy.
LARSON, PARK MAKE IT A BATTLE ALRIGHT
Posted 02/20/13 at 5:00 AM PST
They say “all is fair in love and war.” NASCAR phenom Kyle Larson and Dale Earnhardt protégé Steve Park put the “battle” in the first annual “Battle at the Beach” on the short track at Daytona.
After 20-year old phenom Kyle Larson punted C.E. Falk for the win Monday, Mike Stefanik got the bump and dump from Steve Park on a green-white-checkered, as he won his first Whelen Modified victory in 16 years in Tuesday night’s event. Hopefully, those fans who have been decrying the tame affair that was the Sprint Unlimited caught these slugfests that had all the feel of your local dirt track.
