PENNSYLVANIA 500 POSTPONED BY RAIN; RACE MONDAY AT NOON ET

The Pennsylvania 500 has been postponed until Monday at noon ET (ESPN) because of rain. A deluge soaked Pocono Raceway in the morning before letting up about an hour before the race. The track was dried and the drivers were introduced under clear skies, but the rain soon returned and problems emerged with weepers, which are cracks where water comes up through the track. Pocono Raceway does not have lights, so starting the race later in the day was not an option.

Know who is totally bummed about the delay? (I mean besides The Daly Planet, which now has to wait a whole day to blog the race.) Jimmie Johnson was among a handful of NASCAR drivers scheduled to meet President Obama at the White House on Monday. I was looking forward to hearing how the president would go about praising men whose vehicles get five miles per gallon. Looks like that event will be postponed, too.
