Unless Scott Speed pulled a Richard Jefferson over the weekend, he is now the proud husband of Amanda Mathis, pictured above. The pair was scheduled to get married Saturday in front of 120 guests at a black-and-white themed ceremony and reception at Graylyn Estate in Winston-Salem, N.C. Scott helped pick out the wedding invitation and the location. Mathis did pretty much everything else. See, drivers are just like regular people.
Speed and Mathis were engaged in November 2008. They are said to have met while Mathis worked in public relations for Bill Davis Racing in the Craftsman Truck Series.
In June 2008, while working for Bill Davis Racing, Mathis was suspended and placed on probation by NASCAR for an incident at the Craftsman Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway. NASCAR penalized Mathis under Section 12-4-F of the truck series rule book: “any member who participates in fights or altercations in the pits or on the race premises.”
It took the normally outspoken Speed 45 minutes to propose to Mathis. See, drivers are just like regular people.
I have no idea what’s going on here. Purple nurple?
Between Speed’s brash nature and metro tastes and Mathis’s whatever-she-did-to-get-suspended-by-NASCAR, we expect their nuptials to be the gift that keeps on giving.
Congratulations to newlyweds Scott and Amanda Speed.
