Spake and Little stand out in the Sprint Cup’s male-dominated garage. ESPN was the first network to regularly use two female pit reporters in its coverage of NASCAR’s top series.
Spake began covering NASCAR in 2003 when she became a reporter for the local FOX affiliate in Charlotte. In 2004 she joined the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats and worked as a reporter for the team’s regional sports network, C-SET. She also has done work for ESPN Radio as a college football sideline reporter.
In addition to ESPN, Spake has worked for SPEED. In an interview with godanriver.com, Spake said, I’m doing exactly what I want to be doing, and it’s so much fun. It is a blast. I’m so fortunate to be doing what I do."
Spake is so popular that she received numerous write-in votes from fans in Playboy’s 2008 Sexiest Sportscaster Poll, even though she was – unbelievably – left off the ballot.
Spake married land developer Jerry McSorley in a ceremony in Ireland in 2008. They were engaged in Italy. Spake and McSorley share Irish and Italian heritage. They allowed Carolina Bride to publish photos of their wedding day.
You’d smile too if you were Marcos Ambrose.
