SWINE FLU: VIRGINIA HEALTH OFFICIALS URGE RACE FANS TO TAKE PRECAUTIONS

Local health officials in Henrico Country are urging people headed to Richmond International Raceway this weekend to take precautions in light of the recent swine flu outbreak.

In a news release, health director Dr. Robert E. Stroube said, "There is no reason for fans not to attend and enjoy events this weekend. However, as with any large public event, there is a risk of spreading viruses, but there are very simple yet effective precautions you can take to avoid exposure."

Stroube urged people who are sick with flu-like symptoms, or have a fever, to stay home from work, school and other public areas. People are encouraged to wash their hands frequently and cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing.

The seating capacity at Richmond International Raceway is 112,029.
