LEFFLER PRACTICE CRASH

The nastiest wreck of the weekend happened during practice for the Nationwide Series race at Watkins Glen. Jason Leffler was exiting Turn 5 onto the back chute when he went off-course and hit the tire barrier. The impact sent his Toyota spinning through the air. Leffler was not injured. He finished 15th in the Zippo 200 Saturday at The Glen. Video below. WATKINS GLEN CRASH VIDEOS

The Sprint Cup Series makes its annual stop at Watkins Glen on Sunday.  Road courses are a bane for many drivers, and The Glen has produced more than its share of wrecks since it began playing host to Sprint Cup events in 1986.  Perhaps one of the most notable is the crash in the picture above, which happened on Aug. 10, 2008.  The crash involved nine cars and sent driver Bobby Labonte to the hospital.  Watch the video after the jump.  Nasty multi-car crash 2008  ...

PENNSYLVANIA 500 CRASHES

You can't accuse NASCAR of "phantom debris" on this one. On lap 62 of the Pennsylvania 500 part of the caution light at the start/finish line fell onto the track. Leader Denny Hamlin (where was his spotter?) ran over the debris, but it did not appear to damage his car. The "lights-out" moment (below) was just one of the close calls and crashes on the track Monday. KYLE BUSCH HITS THE WALL AT THE BRICKYARD

A cut tire at The Brickyard on Sunday sent Kyle Busch into the wall, back to the garage and out of the top 12 for the Chase. Busch currently sits in 14th place with six races to go before the Chase field is finalized. "I think it's pretty self-explanatory that we're trying to fight for a spot in the Chase," Busch said.
