“CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM” IS THE OPERATIVE PHRASE FOR THE NEW CAR

There’s smiles all around at Daytona. Dale Earnhardt Jr. gave the new car a thumbs up, Jeff Gordon seems pleased, and a number of fans and drivers are happy to hear the two-car tandem should be going the way of the Blue Footed Booby. It’s all just one big love fest, save for short supplies, and a number of bent up cars from Friday, serving as a teacher that racers should tread lightly when attempting to bump draft. Heck, the car even LOOKS better. No doubt, all the buzz o ...

DRIVING AN INDYCAR IN THE HEART OF NASCAR

I drove through the tunnel into the infield garage area for the umpteenth time. DRIVERS ADJUSTING TO SPOILER

CHARLOTTE _ Preparing for the transition from the rear wing to the spoiler, nearly every Sprint Cup Series team spent this Tuesday and Wednesday testing at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. While the spoiler will be implemented beginning with this weekend’s race in Martinsville, teams had limited time with the newest change to the car. A previous test at Talladega Superspeedway saw only 24 teams try out the rear spoiler, but this week close to 50 teams took to the track. Each team used the ...
