ROAD COURSE FAIL

Montreal isn't the easiest road course to race. Maybe it's the French signage. Maybe it's the contact buzz from all of the Molson fumes wafting in from the grandstands. Or maybe it's because Steven Wallace thinks Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is French for "wreck everyone in sight." J.J. YELEY CRASH

J.J. Yeley was taken to the hospital following a short track crash on Saturday night. According to Racin' Today, Yeley reportedly suffered three broken vertebrae in the crash. He was competing in a race in the Sprint Bandits Series at the half-mile dirt Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan. Yeley made 95 Sprint Cup starts between 2004 and 2008. SHARPIE 500 CRASHES

The Saturday night race in Bristol, as usual, produced its fair share of bumping and banging. Clint Bowyer's Chase hopes came to an end when Joey Logano got into the back of Bowyer after Michael Waltrip crashed, sending the rear of Bowyer's car into Waltrip's. In the second crash, shown below, Kevin Harvick proved that no good deed goes unpunished. He saved Bowyer from being wrecked out of the Chase, only to wreck himself. RALLY CAR HITS HORSE

Race cars and wild animals - as this coyote discovered - do not mix. At a rally car race in Argentina on Monday, driver Federico Villagra struck a wild horse with his Mitsubishi Evo, sending the animal 30 feet up into the air. The horse was seriously injured and was later put down. The Los Andes newspaper - and this is how you know Argentina is serious about its racing - reports that the accident only cost Villagra 30 seconds.Video posted after the jump. NASCAR DRIVER HITS COYOTE PHOTOS

Not even Acme rocket-powered roller-skates could have saved this coyote. On June 5 Scene Daily reported that Joe Gibbs Racing driver Brad Coleman hit a coyote while driving 190 mph during testing at the Toyota Arizona Proving Grounds. SAM HORNISH JR. WATKINS GLEN CRASH

Monday's race at Watkins Glen was the site of one of the nastiest crashes of the Sprint Cup season. It all started on lap 63 when Kasey Kahne dove inside Sam Hornish Jr. coming out of turn 9 and sent Hornish off onto the grass on the left side. Hornish hit the tire barrier hard and helicoptered back onto the track, where he was T-boned by Jeff Gordon. Gordon spun into the Armco barrier that lines the track. LOOSE WHEEL KILLS FORMULA TWO DRIVER

The racing world has received another stark reminder of just how dangerous the sport can be. Eighteen-year-old Formula Two driver Henry Surtees died Sunday when a loose wheel struck him in the head while he was driving 120 mph at Brands Hatch in England. Surtees was knocked unconscious and crashed into a barrier. F2 chief executive Jonathan Palmer said Surtees died when his head collided with the airborne wheel, not when his car hit the corner.The video of the fatal crash is below.    ...
