FORD RACING’S CONFIDENTIAL OFFER TO EARNHARDT-GANASSI

This week co-owner Chip Ganassi confirmed that Earnhardt-Ganassi would stay with Chevrolet next year. While Juan Pablo Montoya and Jamie McMurray will not be climbing behind the wheel of a Ford next year, confidential memos indicate Ford Racing made a generous bid to win over Chip Ganassi.  There has not been a lot of good news for Ford recently. The contents of Ford's offer make it clear they were committed to securing another race team.  Here are the confidential details o ...

JOHNSON CRASHES AT BRISTOL

Not surprisingly, the World’s Fastest Half-Mile provided plenty of excitement this past weekend across all three series, culminating in a triumphant weekend sweep by Kyle Busch. What was surprising was the lack of crashes we’re accustomed to seeing at a short, steep track such as Bristol. There was plenty of hard racing on display, but drivers were able to avoid day-ending mistakes. Somehow, I don’t think Jimmie Johnson and crew chief Chad Knaus are taking much solace ...

MONTOYA FINALLY GETS THE WIN

Frustration and tough breaks have plagued the No. 42 team of Juan Pablo Montoya and crew chief Brian Pattie over the last few weeks, but Sunday on the road course in Watkins Glen the pair was able to dominate the day and seal the deal to score the win. Going into this weekend’s event, the Earnhardt Ganassi Racing team had three front row starts in the previous five races, yet they failed to finish better than 16th and recorded three DNFs. With most people in the garage looking at Montoya a ...

NASCAR PROP BETS, VERSION TWO

Denny Hamlin. Oh how you scorn me.I wrote a column putting money on him to win at Martinsville before the odds came out. Upon seeing those odds and hating them, I went in the other direction. Now Captain ACL has me down $200 in fake currency instead of being down less than $100 in fake moolah had I stuck with my original hunch. In an unrelated note, I hate this column and can’t be happy enough for an off week so I can present some random prop bets to drown my sorrow for a bit. Odds Kyle ...

JUANTABO MOJOYA IS GONNA BE PISSED

ESPN's David Newton is a very good writer. But it looks like he's still working out the kinks on TV. Newton mangles Juan Pablo Montoya's name not once, but twice, on NASCAR Now. Poor Juantabo Mojoya, first Bob Griese accuses him of eating tacos, then Vince Welch asks him a dumb question, then a reporter expected him to work past 5:01, and now this. ...

BUT WHAT DOES HE LIKE ON HIS TACOS?

Earlier this week we shared ESPN The Magazine's "For Love or The Game" segment between Jimmie Johnson, Chandra Johnson and Chad Knaus. It is believed to be the only time Knaus has lost anything during the last four years. Above I uncovered the same game played between Juan Pablo Montoya, Connie Montoya and Brian Pattie. There seem to be many opinions on Montoya's most annoying trait. Then again, what did you expect?Texas fans vs. Alabama fans (Holy Taco)The lighter side of Mike Ditka - ...

MONTOYA AND STEWART ALMOST HUG IT OUT

Juan Pablo Montoya and Tony Stewart appear to have put their Homestead feud behind them. During a panel discussion this week in Las Vegas, Jimmie Johnson suggested that Montoya and Stewart hug it out. Montoya posed sarcastically for a hug, Tony offered him a hand and they gave each other a brief shake. Then Stewart snuck in the line of the day...  Update: Just saw this Scene Daily story. The hatchet has officially been buried. Damn it.Related links:Award speech Jimmie Johnson should give ...

STEWART, MONTOYA FEUD AT HOMESTEAD

Yo, NASCAR. You're doing it wrong. Where was this weekend in April, when the sport needed it? On Saturday the Denny Hamlin-Brad Keselowski feud came to a head in the Nationwide Series race, with Hamlin exacting revenge by spinning out Keselowski. And in the Ford 400 Sunday, two of the Sprint Cup's most loathsome biggest personalities, Tony Stewart and Juan Pablo Montoya, tangled at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Hey, actual rivalries! And they were fun to watch. Stewart was black-flagged for his on-t ...
