Road racing. It’s either loved or hated.

Those making the odds need extra heartburn medicine, because this track causes more stress than any other stop on the 2012 Sprint Cup tour. Here’s why:

Numbers get big:
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is 50/1. This is the same person people are flocking to pick as Sprint Cup champion.

Numbers get bigger:
Matt Kenseth is 75/1. Isn’t he leading the points?

Names creep up:
Those making the numbers won’t let Marcos Ambrose make me look smart. 4/1 is too high, as good as he is on these courses. Sneaking in Robby Gordon or Boris Said doesn’t make much sense either.

The end result is some driver is going to win with a huge number Sunday. Which one? Ugh… Up a fake 355 dollars after the streak ended, here are my picks for entertainment alone.

Twenty fake dollars Jeff Gordon at 8/1

Gordon aligned with a winery. He always finds his way in the top ten at Sonoma. Plus, he’s starting second. Oh yeah, Rick Hendrick is his owner.

Ten fake dollars on Jimmie Johnson at 12/1
Because I’ll never get 12/1 odds on his all year.

Five fake dollars on Clint Bowyer at 25/1
Bowyer has the third best average finish among active drivers here. This would be a huge win for Toyota and Michael Waltrip Racing.

Five fake dollars on Kasey Kahne at 25/1
Kahne has a win hear in the last five years and the highest odds among those winners.

Five fake dollars on Greg Biffle at 50/1
I can’t believe I typed that sentence.

Five fake dollars on Matt Kenseth at 75/1

See Greg Biffle. I’m also a sucker.

I hate these picks. I love road racing. Someone page Dr. Phil. Here’s what The Spread thinks; now enjoy the race, and insert random catchphrase here.
