TOYOTA SPONSAFIER: PRAYING FOR KARSON (UPDATE)

Posted 05/24/10 at 9:42 AM PDT by | Email This |

UPDATE: Our little man Karson won! Check out this touching video on SPEED, which shows Karson and his family, along with Denny Hamlin, as they talk about the car and Karson's rare lung disorder. For more info you can go to the Praying for Karson Facebook page.

Toyota has launched a cool contest that lets fans design their own race car. It is called the Sponsafier. Ten finalists will be selected on April 1 to move onto the next round and the winning design will be used as the pace car for NASCAR's All-Star race in Charlotte. There are many worthy entries, but we would appreciate it greatly if you would vote for the Praying for Karson car. Karson is an 11-month-old boy who was diagnosed with neuroendocrine hyperplasia of infancy (NEHI), which is an interstitial lung disease. The car was designed by Karson's grandmother in an attempt to raise awareness of the illness. The family thinks that the car will need 12,000 votes to make the next round.

You can vote once a day by clicking here.

Let's help Karson's family out!

Thanks.

Hey there,

I'm praying and voting for Carson. During the early phase i voted for "Nick & Friends" in honor of my son - a osteosarcoma survivor. Many of the names on the ribbons of "Nicks" car had names of children who lost their fight. "Nick & Friends" didn't make it to the final round, but before I knew Karson's story, I voted for his car to go all the way in the final round. Ladybugs are a symbol of love and metamorphis. I will keep voting for Karson's Car in the final round and praying for him and hopes his car brings awareness to his illness - to all pediatric illnesses in which research funding is so ignored. Go Karson!

with love from Jo in Maryland
