The NASCAR Sprint Cup series makes its annual stop at Watkins Glen, NY for this weekend’s Centurion Boats at The Glen.  Road courses are always a bane for many drivers, and the Glen has produced more than its share of wrecks since it began hosting regular Sprint Cup events in 1986.  Perhaps one of the most notable is the crash in the picture above which happened on August 10, 2008.  The crash involved nine cars and sent veteran driver Bobby Labonte to the hospital.  Watch a video of this crash after the jump.

VERY nasty multi-car crash, 2008

Compilation of 2007 crashes
Tommy Kendall’s IMSA GTP crash, 1991
This crash in turn five sidelined Kendall for more than a year.  The 6′ 6" driver broke both legs in the devastating head-on collision with the tire barrier.  Veteran NASCAR driver J.D McDuffie was killed a month later when his car left the track in the same area.  Watkins Glen officials rebuilt turn five, transforming it into chicane to help slow the cars down.

Jimmie Johnson Nationwide crash, 2001

This is probably one of the most over-played crash videos ever filmed, but we are featuring because it affirms our belief that Johnson is not human.
